The Brief
ARCHITECTURAL GREENERY.
Converted 1915 movie theater. Exposed brick, polished concrete, raw wood beams, 14-16 foot ceilings. The room stays dark. Pin-spots, candles, and camera flash are the only light you'll see. The palette is pitch black, white, and olive green (#5F612C). The greenery is how that green shows up in the physical space. Every placement is a decision. If it looks like it was placed for a wedding, it's wrong.
Target Green · #5F612C
Olive. Moss. Dark and warm.
Approved Species
WHAT BELONGS IN THIS ROOM
Monstera deliciosa. Large, sculptural, dark green. The anchor leaf.
Philodendron. Dense, deep green, layering texture.
Dark ferns (maidenhair, sword). Feathery, fills gaps between the big leaves.
Fan palms. Structural. Dramatic.
Hanging amaranthus. Trailing, dark, adds vertical movement.
Italian ruscus. Dark, dense. Works as a runner or filler.
Podocarpus. Deep green, weeping, elegant.
Magnolia leaves. Dark, glossy, architectural.
Placement Zones
WHERE IT LIVES
Zone 01
LOUNGE CORNERS
Two olive green velvet sofas anchoring separate lounge zones. Dense sculptural greenery flanking each sofa, tucked into the corners behind and beside them. Not a wall. Not a hedge. Clusters that frame the seating without blocking sightlines from behind. Think 3 feet tall max, placed at the ends of each sofa and in the corner pocket. When someone sits down and gets hit with direct flash, the foliage is in the frame. That's the shot. Large monstera mixed with philodendron and fern. Dense. Textured. Dark.
Priority: Highest · Quantity: 2 lounge zones · Height: 3' max · Corner placement
Zone 02
PATIO PERIMETER
Dense greenery framing the edges of the outdoor patio. Both sides of the entrance. Potted or freestanding. Should look like it's been growing there for years. This is the first organic thing guests see when they step outside. Make it count.
Priority: High · Frames the indoor-outdoor transition
Zone 03
COMMUNAL TABLE RUNNERS
Two long communal tables. Low dark greenery running down the center of each. Flat. Under 6 inches. Candles woven through. Italian ruscus, dark fern, or podocarpus. People need to see across the table. This is a runner, not a centerpiece.
Priority: Medium · Quantity: 2 runners · Height: Under 6 inches
Zone 04
FOOD STATION ACCENTS
Minimal. A single branch or small monstera arrangement at each end of the food stations. The food is the star on these surfaces. The greenery just marks the edges. Small. Clean.
Priority: Low · Quantity: 4-6 small placements · Accent only

Guiding Principles
HOW IT SHOULD FEEL
It grew out of the concrete. It didn't get delivered on a truck and arranged by someone in an apron. Dense in a few places beats sparse across many. The lounge corners are the investment, everything else is accent.
Dark leaf only. If it reads light green, lime, or yellow-green under warm light, pull it. Test under low light before placing. The greenery matches the olive of the velvet furniture and the uplighting on the brick walls. One color story through fabric, light, and living material.
Nothing on the cocktail tables. Nothing hanging from the ceiling. Grounded. Dark. Alive.
